Iran’s Foreign Minister has arrived in Moscow to ask Vladimir Putin for additional assistance following US attacks on nuclear facilities.
Reuters reported this, citing its own sources.
According to a Reuters source, the Iranian Foreign Minister handed over a letter from Khamenei to Putin asking for support.
It is noted that Iran is not impressed with the support it has from Russia. They want Putin to do more for Israel and the US to strike. However, it was not specified what kind of help Iran expects.
Before the Iranian Foreign Minister’s arrival, the Kremlin did not announce the topic of the conversation. However, after the meeting, it became known that the Russian leader called the strikes on Iran “unprovoked aggression that has no justification.”
Putin also said that Russia is “making efforts to assist the Iranian people.” However, he did not announce any specific steps.
It should be noted that the Russian Federation is an ally of Iran and plays a certain role in Iran’s nuclear negotiations with the West as a member of the UN Security Council.
Reuters pointed out that so far Putin has not publicly expressed a desire to enter into a confrontation with the US over Iran due to Trump’s desire to restore ties with Moscow.
As is known, on June 13, Israel launched a large-scale air strike on the territory of Iran . The targets were facilities related to the Iranian nuclear program. As a result of the air strike on Tehran , more than 70 people died, including at least 20 high-ranking military personnel .
As a reminder, the United States Air Force attacked Iran’s nuclear infrastructure , including the most protected facility in Fordow. Later, Pentagon chief Pete Haggett said that the United States’ strikes had destroyed Iran’s nuclear program .
