Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed a trilateral summit with U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping to discuss ending the war in Ukraine. The proposed format does not include President Volodymyr Zelensky.

This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.

According to the publication, Moscow is seeking to negotiate an end to the war on terms that are favorable to it. The meeting is proposed to be held in November on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the possibility of a trilateral summit is being discussed, but there are no concrete agreements yet.

“There is still no clear understanding regarding the meeting itself or its potential agenda, although all three sides acknowledge the hypothetical possibility of such a meeting,” Peskov said.

Previously, Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov noted that the initiative for holding negotiations should come from China if Trump confirms participation in the summit.
