Putin will skip the G20 summit in the US.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin will likely skip the G20 summit in Florida on December 14–15. He plans to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China.

Bloomberg reports this, citing people close to the Kremlin.

According to them, the likelihood of Putin participating in the G20 together with US President Donald Trump is very low.

The APEC summit is scheduled for November 18-19 in Shenzhen, China. If Putin does attend, it will be his first direct participation in an APEC leaders’ meeting since 2017.

Russian officials previously raised the possibility of a trilateral meeting between Putin, Trump, and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the summit. However, its holding would depend on Trump’s visit to China.

According to Bloomberg, Moscow is also considering the possibility of an unannounced visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the G20 summit in Florida.

There is no official confirmation yet of Putin’s participation in APEC or his non-participation in the G20.
