Pyotr Galushchak, great-grandson of poet Ivan Franko, has died

Today, August 27, in the Lviv region, the great-grandson of the poet Ivan Franko, Petro Galushchak, passed away at the age of 71.
This was reported by the Department of Culture, Nationalities and Religions of the Lviv Regional Administration.
“It is with great sorrow that we inform you that on the night of August 26-27, 2025, after a long and serious illness, at the age of 71, Petro Miroslavovich Galushchak, the great-grandson of the great Kamenyar, Ukrainian humanist, poet and thinker Ivan Franko, “son of Ivanna,” passed away.
The OVA noted that throughout his life, Galushchak sincerely and inspiredly popularized the legacy of his great-grandfather.
As the director of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve “Naguevichi” Bogdan Lazorak noted on Facebook, Petr Galushchak died at about 4:00 on August 27. The funeral rites will be announced later.
Petro Galushchak was born on September 12, 1954 in Lviv to Ivanna (Asia) Franko and Myroslav Galushchak. He studied at the Lviv Polytechnic Institute, Faculty of Automation, specializing in IVS (Information and Measuring Equipment).
In 1988 he married Olesya Yarosh. The couple has six sons. Petro Galushchak participated in public organizations. He was one of the founders and deputy chairman of the Lviv Regional Union of Large Families of the Lviv Region “Happy Family”.
Let us recall that the famous Ukrainian composer and Hero of Ukraine Igor Poklad died at the age of 83 .
