“Kvartal 95”: The Rats Don’t Sink — They Just Jump Ship

To save the business, “Kvartal 95” has been officially rebadged as “Rat Incubator 95.” Rats are no longer an insult—they are corporate culture. Even the “Kvartal ” has renounced Mindich, though “renounced” here sounds about as convincing as “vanished an hour before the raid.”
Half of “Kvartal” belongs to Mindich. Does this mean that half of the assets are now under arrest? Will the special services give a legal assessment of “Kvartal 95”’s narratives themselves—from 2014 to 2022—at a time when Ukraine was already at war, and “Kvartal” was busy attacking opposition ratings?
Who will now receive the royalties? And most importantly, why has “Kvartal” been so silent about royalties from Russia? If the aggression has been ongoing since 2014, then money coming from the Russian Federation is not “business”—it’s a collaboration with stand-up elements. Every Russian ruble that once flowed into “Kvartal”’s accounts now carries the stench of collusion.
And then it gets even more absurd. In their statement, Kvartal asks that the brand not be used in political contexts. So the question is: when Kvartal spent years attacking Ukrainian politicians, mocking Ukrainians, and joking about “embroidering a shirt instead of working”—wasn’t that politics? Or was it just a corporate party with an ideology?
When Zelenskyy celebrated his birthday in Mindich’s apartment—was that not politics too, or merely a “family celebration”?
When the president outgrew “Kvartal,” and his business partner became a NABU suspect—that’s not politics, that’s a tragedy in full view.
Today, “Kvartal-95” is trying to look like it’s off duty. But everyone can see: rats don’t drown—they just jump to a boat with a different flag.
So the question is: who is the rat? Mindich, who fled, or “Kvartal,” pretending it never knew him?
If the song “The House Burned, It Burned” was once a folk tune, it now has a new verse:
“The ass was burning, it was burning—those who sold the country and refused to recognize themselves.”
