Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada may soon vote on a bill to regulate the Telegram messenger.

This was stated by People’s Deputy Mykola Kniazhytskyi, quoted by Glavkom.

He is convinced that deputies will soon introduce bill No. 11115 to the parliamentary hall and vote for it in the first reading.

As noted, the law on regulating the activities of information sharing platforms will give the state additional tools to protect against the enemy’s use of various data transmission networks. According to Kniazhytsko, this is not only about Telegram.

He explained that the bill notes that all platforms must have transparency in ownership and funding.

“If they spread information harmful to the state, they must remove this information. If they fail to do so, various sanctions are provided – from fines to a ban on state services, bodies, and means of transmitting information from using a particular data transmission network. This applies to all data transmission networks,” the deputy added.

As a reminder, the co-chair of the European Solidarity faction, Iryna Gerashchenko, said that the terrorist attack in Lviv has once again activated the discussion in society about the work of anonymous platforms. She noted that EU deputies have long demanded the deanonymization of Telegram, but the relevant bill is blocked by the authorities.

By the way, the head of the OP, Kyrylo Budanov, stated that the decision to regulate Telegram’s work should be made at least for the duration of the war .
