Radio dictation of national unity: it became known who wrote the text and who will read it

The text for the 2026 Radio Dictation of National Unity was written by writer and war veteran Artur Dron. This year, it will be read by two people at once – singer Dasha Astafieva and teacher of Ukrainian language and literature Artur Proydakov.

This is reported by Suspilne.

The names of the author and readers were announced during the Ukrainian Radio broadcast by Radio Dictation coordinator Yulia Sheludko.

Artur Dron is the author of the poetry collection “We Were There” and the prose book “Hemingway Knows Nothing”. In March 2022, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and served in the 125th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade. He fought in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhia regions. In October 2024, he was seriously wounded, after which he was demobilized.

The writer said that in his text he wants to show how the Ukrainian language unites people. According to him, we all use the same words, but each of us puts something of our own into them.

The Radio Dictator will be read by Ukrainian language and literature teacher Artur Proydakov and singer Dasha Astafieva.

In 2023, Proydakov became the first Ukrainian teacher to be included in the top ten best teachers in the world according to the Global Teacher Prize. He noted that for him, reading Radiodictation is a great honor and responsibility. After all, this tradition has long ceased to be just a literacy test and every year unites Ukrainians in different parts of the world.

Dasha Astafieva, who volunteers and develops the book application UnderBooks, also shared her emotions from participating in the project. The singer admitted that for her it was a dream come true, and called on Ukrainians to join Radiodictation.

Project coordinator Yulia Sheludko explained that this year the organizers decided to experiment with the format. Previously, Radio Dictation was read by one person, but now the text will be performed by two.

According to her, with this decision, the organizers want to take into account the wishes of different listeners: some wanted to hear a famous media personality, while others wanted to hear a professional teacher. At the same time, Sheludko admitted that the new format has its risks, but can make Radiodictation more interesting.

As a reminder, this year’s All-Ukrainian Radio Dictation of National Unity will be held on October 27 , the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language. Ukrainians anywhere in the world will be able to join it.
