Ratio 10 to 1: NATO compares losses of Russia and Ukraine
The Russian army suffered more than 50,000 casualties in Ukraine in September, with up to 28,000 soldiers possibly killed. A senior NATO official estimated that this was about ten times the number of Ukrainian forces killed during the same period.
This was reported by Bloomberg, citing an unnamed senior NATO official.
According to his estimate, Russia’s total losses for the month exceeded 50 thousand people , including up to 28 thousand dead .
At the same time, the publication’s interlocutor estimated the losses of Ukrainian forces during the same period at approximately 5,000 people . Thus, the ratio was about 10 to 1 , not in favor of Russia.
A NATO representative explained this difference by the nature of Russian offensive actions.
According to him, the Russian command continues to send personnel to so-called “kill zones” – areas saturated with strike drones, mines, artillery, and other means of destruction.
As a result, even limited advances by Russian units are accompanied by significant losses of personnel.
Previously, “Pryamiy” wrote that in September the losses of the Russian army reached 46,230 people . According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this was the highest monthly figure since the beginning of 2026.
Also in September, the Unmanned Systems Forces recorded over 13,000 enemy casualties .
At the same time, the exact losses of the parties in the war cannot be independently verified in real time, and different sources use different counting methods.
