Reaching the Caspian: Ukrainian drones hit port linked to Shahed supply

Ukrainian defenders have struck eight Russian military targets over the past 24 hours, including an oil refinery in the Yamalo-Nenets region and a commercial seaport in Dagestan through which Russia has been delivering Iranian strike drones.

This is evidenced by the statements of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the Fire Point company.

In general, facilities in the Moscow, Voronezh, Astrakhan, and Bryansk regions were hit.

“Russia continues its terror against Ukraine every day. And every day it receives a fair response,” Zelensky wrote.

Separately, Fire Point reported a strike by FP-1 drones on the Makhachkala commercial sea port.

“FP-1 drones attacked the only ice-free port of the Russian Federation on the Caspian Sea, through which Iranian Shahed were delivered,” the company said.

The port of Makhachkala is an important transport hub for Russia on the Caspian Sea, providing connections to countries in the region, including Iran. According to the company, Iranian strike drones were delivered to Russia through it, which were then transported to areas where they were used against Ukraine.

A hit and a fire were recorded in the port. The exact consequences of the attack are currently being determined.

In the first eight months of 2026, the port handled over 2.9 million tons of cargo, of which more than 2.08 million tons were oil.

As reported, on the night of Thursday, September 10, drones attacked the Russian cities of Makhachkala in Dagestan and Sochi in Krasnodar Krai . In Makhachkala, a commercial seaport may have been hit, and in Sochi, a fire broke out after the attack and people were injured.
