Recognition of the role in the fight for Ukraine’s freedom: the European Parliament honored the memory of Andriy Parubiy with a minute of silence

At the beginning of the plenary session, the European Parliament observed a minute of silence in memory of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of the eighth convocation, MP from the European Solidarity faction, Andriy Parubiy.

The video from the European Parliament was published on social media by Petro Poroshenko, who is currently in Strasbourg.

European Parliament President Roberta Metzola addressed the deputies, noting that the war in Ukraine continues.

“And while we will continue to insist on peace and support all efforts in this direction, we understand that this must be real peace, peace with dignity and justice. We were shocked by the horrific murder of the former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Andriy Parubiy, in Lviv two weeks ago. Tragedies like Mr. Parubiy’s death have strengthened our community of Ukrainians’ support for their struggle for freedom and democracy,” she said.

“Today we are working in Strasbourg. A new political season has started here. It began with a minute of silence for Andriy Parubiy, a people’s deputy from “European Solidarity”. This is a recognition of his role in the struggle for the freedom of Ukraine and our common European future,” Poroshenko wrote.

He thanked every European MP for supporting this initiative.

“We are together in the fight against the Russian invasion. Eternal memory to Andriy,” he summed up.

Recall that on August 30 , public and political figure Andriy Parubiy was killed in Lviv . Later, it became known that the Lviv region is searching for the shooter who killed the current deputy from the “European Solidarity” party and former chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy . A photo of the alleged killer is being published on the Internet.

Later, journalists reported that MP Andriy Parubiy was shot 8 times by a man disguised as a courier. By the way, a video of the moment of the murder of the MP from the “European Solidarity” and former speaker of parliament Andriy Parubiy appeared on social networks.

Previously, the SBU reported on the possible involvement of Russian special services in organizing the assassination attempt on MP Andriy Parubiy.

As is known, a court hearing was held in Lviv on September 2 in the case of the murder of MP Andriy Parubiy. At the hearing, the suspect publicly admitted his guilt.
