Several cities in eastern Australia have received their heaviest snowfall in four decades.

A cold front has dumped up to 40 centimetres of snow in some parts of New South Wales, the most since the mid-1980s.
However, according to Australian Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Miriam Bradbury, snow has fallen in certain areas of Queensland for the first time in 10 years.
She stressed that climate change has made the weather on the continent more unstable in recent times. However, similar incidents have occurred before.
“What makes this event unusual is not only the amount of snow, but also its prevalence, as it covers a fairly significant part of the northern plateaus,” the meteorologist added.
In addition, other regions experienced heavy rains.
The storm in Australia caused flooding, traffic disruptions, damage to buildings and power outages.
More than 100 vehicles were stranded due to snow, and tens of thousands of homes were left without power. It is also known that on Saturday a passenger in her 20s was washed away by water, and the search continued the next day.
