A strong magnetic storm is expected to hit Earth on Friday, March 20. It could affect people’s well-being and the operation of technology, experts warn.
This is evidenced by data from the meteoagent portal.
Geomagnetic activity is measured by the planetary K-index, which ranges from 0 to 9. A reading of 5 or more indicates a severe storm. On March 20, the K-index is forecast to be 6.3, which is a red alert.
The cause of such disturbances is the activity of the Sun: flares and coronal mass ejections, which affect the Earth’s magnetic field.
Data on magnetic storms is constantly updated, approximately every three hours. Therefore, experts advise to monitor the forecast, as the strength of the storm can either increase or decrease.
How the storm affects people
Strong magnetic storms can make you feel worse. The most common symptoms are:
headache and dizziness;
increased fatigue and drowsiness;
pressure fluctuations;
irritability and anxiety;
sleep problems.
People with cardiovascular diseases, the elderly, and those who are weather-dependent are especially sensitive to magnetic vibrations.
Experts advise getting more rest on such days, avoiding stress, drinking enough water, and not overloading the body.
