On Earth, an increase in geomagnetic activity is being recorded on June 25. After a quiet period last week, the situation has changed due to the influence of the solar wind and coronal holes on the Sun.
This is evidenced by data from the meteoagent portal and the British Geological Survey.
According to current data, the level of geomagnetic activity has reached about 6.3 points, which corresponds to the red level. This means that a strong magnetic storm is ongoing on the planet.
The cause of the phenomenon was an increase in the speed of the solar wind coming from active areas of the Sun. Previously, experts had only predicted a possible increase in activity at the end of the week due to the influence of coronal holes.
Magnetic storms can affect the operation of satellite systems, radio communications, and navigation. Some people may complain of fatigue, headaches, or malaise during periods of geomagnetic disturbances.
Scientists note that the duration of the current storm will depend on further solar activity.
