US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine should not shell Moscow, and also gave Russia an ultimatum: either a ceasefire for 50 days, or new sanctions and tariffs. He specified that the US will not take sides, but will be guided by “humanity”. In addition, Trump rejected the possibility of supplying Ukraine with JASSM and Tomahawk missiles, believing that this is inappropriate now.
He said this while talking to journalists.
While speaking to the media on the White House lawn, Trump categorically opposed the strikes on Moscow.
“No, he (Zelensky) should not shell Moscow,” he said.
The US President emphasized that he wants to stop the killings, and therefore he is not on the side of any side, but “on the side of humanity.”
At the same time, Trump announced a clear deadline – 50 days to achieve a ceasefire, otherwise sanctions and tariffs will affect those countries that support Russia – primarily China, India, or Brazil.
“At the end of 50 days, if we don’t reach an agreement, it will be very bad,” he noted.
At the same time, Trump added that this period could be shortened.
“I don’t think 50 days is a lot, and it could be sooner,” the American leader said.
One of the main points made during the conversation with journalists was that the US does not plan to send JASSM or Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine . Although the statement about the possible transfer of such missiles was previously discussed, it was decided to refrain from this for now.
Recall that the day before, a landmark meeting between US President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte took place at the White House. During the briefing , Trump announced the transfer of up to 17 Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine and a large amount of other military assistance, which will be partially financed by European allies. The president also threatened Russia with 100% tariffs if a peace agreement on Ukraine is not reached within 50 days.
Meanwhile, the United States is preparing to transfer weapons to NATO allies worth about $10 billion , with the subsequent delivery of this equipment to Ukraine. The agreement, signed by US President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, provides for the transfer of the most modern weapons, including missiles, air defense systems and artillery ammunition.
Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had held two important international talks — with US President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The talks focused on strengthening Ukraine’s defense, the supply of Patriot systems, new weapons, and steps toward a just peace.
