At the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, work has begun to restore damaged power lines that have been without external power for the past four weeks.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi announced this.

“Repair work on damaged power lines in the ZNPP has begun after a four-week outage, following the establishment of local ceasefire zones to allow work to continue,” Grossi said.

He emphasized that restoring external power supply is critical for nuclear safety and stability in the region. According to the IAEA director, both parties to the conflict have cooperated constructively with the agency in implementing the complex repair plan.

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has remained under Russian occupation since March 2022, and the issue of its energy supply has repeatedly become a source of concern for international observers.

As a reminder, following lengthy negotiations between representatives of Ukraine and Russia, the process of reconnecting the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to the power grid has begun.

As reported, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has been without external power for several weeks, posing a direct threat to nuclear safety . The situation arose due to damage to a 750-kilovolt power line that runs near the Zaporizhzhia Thermal Power Plant and is currently located in temporarily occupied territory.
