The situation in Kyiv after the emergency remains extremely complex, emergency and recovery work continues in an intensified mode. The maximum forces of the State Emergency Service and units from other regions are involved in the elimination of the consequences.
This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.
According to him, the volume of work in the capital is significant, and climbers and the Delta special forces unit are working at the sites. According to him, the conditions for performing tasks are complicated by severe frost, physical exertion, and fatigue of the personnel.
“The working conditions are extremely difficult: severe frost, significant physical exertion, people are exhausted. Today’s tragedy also hit us all morally,” said Igor Klymenko.
He emphasized that the rescuers are determined to complete the emergency and recovery work as soon as possible, and there is no doubt about their professionalism and endurance.
In parallel, a large-scale system of assistance to residents has been deployed in Kyiv. According to the minister, more than 90 heating points of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are operating 24/7 in the capital, and additional heating tents are being installed directly in the courtyards of multi-storey buildings.
“Given the need, we decided to deploy additional large heating tents, designed for at least 40 people,” said Igor Klymenko.
At the heating points, people can warm up, charge their gadgets, drink hot tea, and if necessary, receive psychological support. Also, thanks to the cooperation of the State Emergency Service with World Central Kitchen and the Red Cross, residents are provided with hot meals.
The Minister separately drew attention to the need for prompt coordination with local authorities, in particular on issues of clearing roads and adjacent areas from snow and ice, which directly affects the speed of providing assistance.
“In times of crisis, we don’t need reports on social media, but concrete solutions and daily work to achieve results for people,” Igor Klymenko concluded.
By the way, in Kyiv, out of almost 6,000 high-rise buildings that were left without heat supply after the Russian attack on January 24, as of January 25, 1,676 buildings still remain without heating.
We would like to add that during the week of January 19-25, Russian forces sent over 1,700 strike drones into Ukraine. The main targets of the attacks were energy facilities, critical infrastructure, and residential buildings.
