The administration of US President Donald Trump has released a new security strategy for the United States, which outlines the country’s strategic priorities.

In particular, the document states that Europe views Russia as an existential threat, so the settlement of relations will require diplomatic intervention by the United States.

In turn, Washington also seeks to restore strategic stability with the Kremlin.

In addition, the Trump administration wants to end the perception of NATO as an “ever-expanding alliance.”

At the same time, the US wants Europe to take greater responsibility for ensuring its defense capabilities. It is also noted that the American administration has certain contradictions with European officials who “trample democratic norms”, referring to censorship and suppression of the opposition.

Negotiations to resolve the fighting in Ukraine are also mentioned. The strategy emphasizes that Europe has unrealistic demands regarding the war.

Among other things, it is emphasized that the Middle East is no longer a factor that dominates foreign policy for the United States, instead more attention will be paid to Latin America and the Caribbean.

As a reminder, the Trump administration’s preliminary ceasefire plan provides for the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions , as well as the freezing of the contact line in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions.

It should be noted that after the negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations in Geneva, the US peace plan for Ukraine underwent significant changes.

By the way, Trump has not abandoned his policy of reformatting relations with Russia and will continue to put pressure on Ukraine to achieve his own “peace plan” without clear security guarantees.
