Journalists have published new details about the work of Mykhailo Fedorov as Minister of Defense of Ukraine. An audit revealed overspending of 300 billion hryvnias.

According to the publication, after his appointment, Fedorov began work on auditing the Ministry of Defense and army brigades. Also, according to journalists, ministry officials underwent lie detector tests , and those who refused or did not pass them were dismissed.

“His first six months in office were characterized by hyperactivity and persistence that drove many crazy. From the very beginning, he ordered an audit of the Ministry of Defense and army brigades, which revealed overspending of 300 billion hryvnias . He tested ministry officials with a lie detector; those who refused or failed were fired,” the journalists noted.

The publication also claims that one of the results of Fedorov’s work was the transfer of part of the purchases to open tenders , which, according to journalists, reduced the cost of 155-millimeter artillery shells by 16%.

Fedorov’s activities have caused resistance from part of the military leadership . According to the publication, he conflicted with representatives of the conservative wing of the military leadership, in particular with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky, and tried to achieve his dismissal, but did not receive the support of the president.

At the same time, journalists note that Fedorov is credited with the development of the drone program, the digitalization of the army, the optimization of military procurement, and the introduction of competitive tenders.

As is known, on July 15, Mykhailo Fedorov resigned from the post of Minister of Defense. The day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Yevhen Khmara would temporarily perform the duties of Minister of Defense. Also, on July 16, rallies in support of Fedorov were held in a number of cities in Ukraine, which continued in some cities on July 18.

As reported, on Thursday, July 16, rallies were held in a number of Ukrainian cities in support of former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov . People took to the streets after the decision to dismiss him, calling on the authorities to reconsider the personnel changes.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelensky decided to dismiss Mykhailo Fedorov from the position of Minister of Defense due to a long-standing conflict with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky.
