Putin’s “Nutcracker”: How Revenge Missiles Found Only Fields in Lviv Region

Putin’s revenge on Trump for the oil tankers — firing the Oreshnik into the fields of Lviv — was, as usual, both senseless and merciless. A textbook case of rage born of impotence: unable to defend his own ships, he lashes out at Ukraine instead.

The same applies to the openly sadistic attempts to freeze Ukrainian cities. The situation in Kyiv is difficult, but not as catastrophic as it could have been. The Dnipro is already lit. Our air-defence forces, energy workers, and utility crews have learned to achieve the seemingly impossible

What is the result? Every major intelligence service in the world has seen just how stupid and inaccurate this supposedly formidable Putin “nutcracker” really is. It flies brightly — and misses its target.

The most sensitive issue for Putin is the price of oil. He has already lost in Venezuela; he may yet lose in Iran. Production will increase, and prices will fall. The Russian economy has no alternative source of stability. Oil sales are the backbone of the state budget.

The next step Ukraine should take is to shut down the Druzhba oil pipeline. Let’s be honest: it is absurd to cheer for Russia’s inability to sell oil while continuing to pump it through our own territory. After terrorist Russia openly seeks to freeze the entire country, this can no longer be justified by any argument.

It is time to stop.

Otherwise, it begins to resemble a blood-soaked feeding trough during wartime — and sooner or later, we will learn who it belongs to. After a two-day trip to Moscow, I would not be surprised by anything.

As a reminder, on the night of January 9, Russia carried out a missile strike on the Lviv region, hitting a critical infrastructure facility. The attack caused fires and gas supply disruptions in several areas. Later, videos allegedly showing the moment of impact and its aftermath appeared online; the footage is believed to be linked to the use of a Russian ballistic missile known as “Oreshnik.”

Meanwhile, Russian state sources claimed that the strike was carried out using an Oreshnik ballistic missile “in response” to an alleged attack on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Official Ukrainian sources have not yet confirmed the use of this specific type of missile.

In response, Ukraine will appeal to international partners to demand an immediate response to Russia’s use of a medium-range ballistic missile against the Lviv region. The Foreign Ministry emphasizes that the Kremlin claims to have used an Oreshnik-style missile, and Moscow’s attempts to justify the attack with a fabricated “assault on Putin’s residence” are another manifestation of lies and propaganda.
