Romania may open its air bases to the deployment of American F-35s, viewing this as a contribution to ensuring lasting peace in Ukraine.

This was stated by Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolozhan, Agerpres reports.

The government emphasizes two key positions: first, the country will not send troops to the territory of Ukraine; second, joint NATO military bases in Romania — especially air bases — can be used by Alliance forces, the United States, and other partners.

“Air patrols, training, and monitoring of the space over the Black Sea are already being carried out from our airports. This is a real contribution to the security of the region,” the statement said.

Recall that European countries want the United States to deploy American fighter jets in Romania as part of security guarantees for Ukraine.

As reported, American and European military experts have developed several strategic options for supporting Ukraine, which are currently being considered by the highest levels of leadership . The ideas relate to both air defense and possible troop deployment.
