Romanian F-16 and Eurofighter scrambled due to drone intrusion from Ukraine

During a nighttime attack by Russian forces on Ukraine, one of the enemy drones penetrated approximately 8 km into Romanian airspace, forcing the Romanian Air Force to scramble F-16 and Eurofighter fighter jets.
This was reported by the Ministry of National Defense of Romania.
It is noted that two German Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets took off from the Mihailo Kogelniceanu air base on the night of November 19 at 00:25 to monitor the air situation on the border with Ukraine after Russian attacks in the area.
“At 00:20, a Ro-Alert message was received, and a few minutes later, a drone signal was recorded, which entered Romanian airspace about 8 km from Vilkov in the direction of Kilia, after which it disappeared from radar,” the Romanian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The drone appeared on radar for about 12 minutes. The Eurofighters returned to base at 01:50, and the F-16s at around 02:30. According to the Romanian military, special teams are ready to start searching for the drone in the area.
As a reminder, on the night of November 19 , Russian troops carried out a series of strikes on the western regions of Ukraine, in particular on Ternopil and Lviv regions.
As reported, on the night of November 11 , the fall and possible wreckage of a drone were recorded in the Romanian county of Tulcea, which borders Ukraine, amid Russia’s massive attack on the Odessa region.
