Rubio and Lavrov held a meeting: first details known

On Wednesday, September 24, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met in New York.

It took place on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. The talks were held in a closed format and lasted less than an hour.

In particular, during the meeting, Rubio reiterated US President Donald Trump’s call to stop the killings.

He also emphasized the need for Moscow to take significant steps to achieve a long-term settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

At the same time, during talks with Rubio, Lavrov emphasized his readiness to coordinate efforts with the United States to “eliminate the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
