This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Fox Business.
According to Rubio, the United States has received “clear signals” from Moscow for the first time that the Kremlin is allegedly ready to discuss ending the war. At the same time, he did not voice the specific conditions that Russia is putting forward as a basis for stopping hostilities.
“We now better understand under what conditions Russia could agree to stop the war. The task is to compare these positions with the demands of European partners and the vision of Ukraine. If they can be reconciled at least partially, Trump will have the opportunity to enter into negotiations with the participation of both Zelensky and Putin,” the Secretary of State said.
According to Rubio, the territorial issue will remain a central topic of future negotiations. A ceasefire could be a key stage in the negotiation process, which would pave the way for further diplomatic agreements.
