Russian forces attacked a civilian ship carrying corn and owned by Turkey in neutral waters with two drones. The strike killed the ship’s captain and left another person missing.

This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to him, there were citizens of Azerbaijan and India on board the vessel. Rescuers managed to save 11 crew members, one of whom was injured. The fate of another person is being investigated.

Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine has repeatedly proposed specific steps to de-escalate and ensure the safety of shipping in the Black Sea. Third countries have also put forward their proposals.

The president said that Russia, in turn, continues to attack civilian ships. He said that pressure on Moscow must be increased to restore safe shipping and global food security.

It was previously reported that the cargo ship EMIL was discovered drifting without a crew on board in the Black Sea, approximately 40 km east of the Bulgarian Cape Shabla .
