On the night of December 19, Russia launched strikes on electricity generation, distribution, and transmission facilities in 6 regions of Ukraine. The attacks resulted in extensive damage and the implementation of power outage schedules.

This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.

Russian troops attacked energy infrastructure facilities in Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions.

The Ministry of Energy reported that over 73,000 consumers are without electricity due to overnight strikes on the energy infrastructure of the Odessa region. Over 26,000 subscribers are without electricity in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

“Restoration work is ongoing both at the high-voltage substations of NPC Ukrenergo and at the facilities of distribution system operators. Power engineers are working around the clock to get the equipment back into operation as soon as possible,” the Ministry of Energy reported.

The department also noted that due to significant damage to networks, hourly power outage schedules are being applied in certain regions of Ukraine.

In addition, the revision of the lists of critical infrastructure facilities has allowed the release of at least 800 megawatts of capacity. The Ministry of Energy emphasized that this will allow for the reduction of outage schedules for the population and industry in the autumn-winter period.

By the way, on the night of December 19, Russian troops carried out another air strike on Odessa, which damaged a critical energy infrastructure facility . Due to the hit and the powerful shock wave, the civilian infrastructure of one of the most densely populated areas of the city suffered serious damage.

Recall that against the backdrop of Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy, the German government announced the allocation of additional funds to protect infrastructure.
