Russia attacked the American Mondelēz plant in Sumy region: there are injuries

On August 23, Russia launched two drone strikes on a plant of the American company Mondelēz International in the Sumy region. The attack damaged the company’s premises and injured several of its employees.

This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga.

According to him, Russian drones twice attacked a civilian facility owned by the American multinational corporation Mondelēz International.

Sibiga stated that Russia’s systematic attacks on American business interests in Ukraine pose a threat not only to Ukraine, but also to US economic interests in Europe.

“These systematic and targeted Russian attacks on American business interests in Ukraine demonstrate that Russian aggression is not only a threat to Ukraine, but also a direct blow to American economic interests in Europe,” Sibiga wrote.

The minister emphasized that Ukraine advocates for increased military support, in particular strengthening air defense, as well as for increased sanctions pressure on Russia.

“Our strategy to counter these threats remains clear: to strengthen military support for Ukraine, in particular by strengthening its air defense potential, and to exert maximum pressure on Moscow to end this war,” Sybiga noted.

The Mondelēz plant in Sumy region was already under Russian attack in February 2026.

Mondelēz International is an American multinational snack, confectionery, and food company. Its brands include Oreo, Milka, Cadbury, Toblerone, Belvita, and Barny.

Recall that in late July, during a nighttime missile attack on Kyiv , a Russian ballistic missile destroyed the Terminal Autonomy drone manufacturing plant, owned by an American company . The plant produced high-precision long-range drones for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
