On the night of February 7, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities, including substations, overhead power lines, and the Burshtyn and Dobrotvir thermal power plants.

This was announced by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmygal.

According to him, the 750 kV and 330 kV overhead power lines, which form the backbone of the country’s power grid, were attacked. Due to the shelling, nuclear power plant personnel were forced to reduce the load on the power units by reducing their capacity.

“As of today, 4.5-5 emergency shutdown schedules have been implemented throughout Ukraine, with special emergency shutdown schedules in effect in the eastern and northern regions,” Shmigal noted.

Furthermore, in the wake of the massive attack, Ukrenergo’s dispatcher requested emergency assistance from Poland.

As a reminder, on the night of Tuesday, February 3, Russian occupation forces launched another attack on Kyiv . Destruction and fires were reported in various parts of the capital, and at least three people were injured.
