Russia attacked Ukraine with 54 drones: how many did air defense shoot down?

On the night of Tuesday, July 8, Russian troops launched a massive attack on Ukrainian territory using strike drones and missiles.
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
The attack began at around 00:30. From the Kursk region, the invaders launched four S-300/400 anti-aircraft guided missiles. At the same time, 54 Shahed attack drones and other imitation drones were launched from the Kursk, Oryol, and Gvardiyskoye airfields in temporarily occupied Crimea.
By 08:00 in the morning, air defense units had destroyed 34 enemy UAVs. Of these, 26 were shot down by fire weapons, and another eight lost orientation in the air due to the influence of electronic warfare equipment.
Despite the successful work of air defense, hits were recorded at five points on the territory of Ukraine. Information about the consequences and casualties is being clarified.
As a reminder, as of the morning of July 8, Russia had lost about 1,028,610 military personnel since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Over the course of the day, the enemy’s losses in manpower reached 1,070 people.
As reported, over the past 24 hours, 188 combat clashes have occurred on the Russian-Ukrainian front. The hottest situation remains in the Pokrov direction.
