Russia attacked Ukraine with 582 air attack weapons: how the air defense worked

On the night of August 30 (from 19:00 on August 29), the enemy launched a massive attack on the territory of Ukraine using attack drones, air, land and sea-based missiles.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported this.

In total, during the strike, the Air Force’s radio-technical troops detected and accompanied 582 air attack vehicles:

  • 537 Shahed-type attack UAVs and drone imitators of various types in the directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russian Federation.
  • 8 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Rostov region, Krasnodar region – Russian Federation;
  • 37 air, land and sea-based cruise/aircraft missiles: Kh-101, Kalibr, Iskander-K, Kh-59 (launch areas from the Saratov region – Russian Federation, the Black Sea waters and the TOT of the Zaporozhye region).

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

According to preliminary data, as of 09:00, air defense shot down/suppressed 548 air targets:

  • 510 hostile Shahed-type UAVs and drone impersonators of various types;
  • 6 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
  • 32 cruise/air missiles Kh-101, Kalibr, Iskander-K, Kh-59.

“The impact of 5 missiles and 24 attack UAVs was recorded at 7 locations, and the fall of downed ones (debris) at 21 locations,” the report says.

The attack continues, there are several more hostile UAVs in the airspace. Observe safety rules, stay in shelters!
