Russia attacked Ukraine with 59 drones: how the air defense worked

On the night of August 26, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on the territory of Ukraine, using 59 Shahed attack drones and simulator drones of various modifications. The attack was carried out from several directions: Kursk, Shatalovo, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian territory).

This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Anti-aircraft missile systems, mobile fire groups, electronic warfare units, and anti-drone systems were involved in repelling the air strike.

As of 9 a.m., according to preliminary estimates, Ukrainian air defenses had destroyed or suppressed at least 47 drones. The main areas of attack were the northern and eastern regions of the country.

However, the attack could not be completely repelled: 12 drones were recorded hitting 9 different locations. Details regarding damage or casualties are being clarified.

As a reminder, as of the morning of August 26, Russia has lost about 1,077,830 military personnel since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Over the course of the day, the enemy’s losses in manpower reached 890 people.

As reported, over the past 24 hours, 174 combat clashes have occurred on the Russian-Ukrainian front. The hottest situation remains in the Pokrov direction.
