On the evening of January 20 and throughout the night, Russia carried out a massive air strike on Ukraine, using dozens of strike drones and a ballistic missile. Ukrainian air defense forces were able to neutralize most of the air targets.

As reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in total, the enemy launched 97 strike UAVs, including Shahed, Gerbera and other types of drones, as well as one Iskander-M ballistic missile launched from the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea. About seven dozen drones were Shaheds.

Drone launches were recorded from several directions — the Kursk, Oryol, and Rostov regions of the Russian Federation, the Primorsky-Akhtarsk region, Cape Chauda in Crimea, as well as from temporarily occupied Donetsk.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare forces, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

As of 08:30 on Wednesday, January 21, 84 enemy drones have been confirmed destroyed or suppressed in the northern, southern and eastern regions of the country. At the same time, a ballistic missile and 13 strike drones were recorded hitting 11 locations, as well as debris from downed targets falling on another facility.

The Air Force noted that the air threat remains — there are still several enemy drones in the skies over Ukraine, and combat operations are ongoing.
