Russia attacked Ukraine with almost a hundred drones: how the air defense worked

On the night of Tuesday, October 14, Russia launched a massive drone attack on Ukrainian territory, launching nearly a hundred strike drones from various directions. Air defense forces managed to destroy or suppress most of them.

This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In particular, the enemy attacked with 96 Shahed, Gerber and other drones from the Millerovo, Bryansk, Orel, Kursk, Primorsky-Akhtarsk regions in Russia and from Gvardiyske in occupied Crimea. About 60 of the drones were Shaheds.

The air attack was repelled by aviation units, anti-aircraft missile troops, mobile groups, electronic warfare units, and SBS. As of 08:30, the defense forces had shot down or suppressed the operation of 69 drones of various types in the north, east, south, and center of the country.

At the same time, 27 hits were recorded on seven objects, and debris from downed drones fell in another location. The attack is ongoing – enemy drones are still in the sky.

As a reminder, on the night of Tuesday, October 14, Russian troops struck the Kirovohrad region , as a result of which critical infrastructure facilities were damaged, fires were recorded, and Ukrzaliznytsia changed the movement of a number of trains.

On October 13, Kharkiv was subjected to a powerful Russian airstrike . According to the city’s mayor, Igor Terekhov, the occupiers attacked the city with guided aerial bombs (GABs). The Russians hit a medical facility.
