Russia attacked Ukraine with ballistic missiles and almost 170 drones: how it practiced air defense

On the night of Wednesday, July 8, Russian occupation forces carried out another massive air attack on Ukraine, using ballistic and anti-radar missiles, as well as almost 170 strike drones. Air defense forces neutralized 139 drones, but a number of targets were hit.
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the military, from 6:00 PM on July 7, the occupiers launched two Kh-31P anti-radar missiles from the Black Sea, five Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles from temporarily occupied Crimea and the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation, as well as 169 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas attack drones and simulator drones into Ukraine.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups.
“According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defenses shot down or suppressed 139 enemy UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types, and drones of other types,” the Air Force reported.
At the same time, Russian missiles and drones achieved some of their targets.
According to the military, five ballistic missiles were hit in four locations, as well as 20 strike drones in 11 locations. In addition, debris from downed air targets fell in seven more locations.
The Air Force also noted that two Kh-31P anti-radar missiles did not reach their targets.
“The attack is ongoing, there are several enemy UAVs in the airspace. Follow safety rules!” the military called.
As a reminder, on the night of Wednesday, July 8, Russian occupation forces launched a missile strike on Kyiv. The attack caused fires in the capital, injured two people, and damaged administrative buildings, warehouses, and trams.
