Russia attacked Ukraine with over 100 drones: how the air defense worked

On the evening of December 2, Russia carried out another massive strike on the territory of Ukraine, using over a hundred strike drones of various types. According to updated data, as of the morning of December 3, air defense forces had managed to destroy or suppress 83 targets.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian troops launched the attack at around 18:00, launching 111 UAVs, most of which were Shahed strike drones, as well as Gerber-type drones and other modifications used by the Russian army. The attack was directed from several directions: Kursk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and temporarily occupied Chauda in Crimea. There were more than 60 Shahed drones alone.
Anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, electronic warfare forces, and anti-drone systems were deployed to repel the attack.
By 08:00 AM, air defenses in the north, east, and south of the country had destroyed or suppressed 83 attack drones.
At the same time, 27 UAV hits in 13 settlements remained confirmed, and debris from downed aircraft was recorded falling at one more location. Civilian infrastructure and the private sector suffered the greatest damage in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, and Odessa regions. There are reports of civilian casualties.
