Russia attacked Ukraine’s energy sector again overnight, causing power outages in several regions.

On the night of January 5, Russian troops launched further strikes against Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities. The attacks resulted in power outages in several regions.

This was reported by Ukrenergo and Deputy Minister of Energy Oleksandr Vyazovchenko.

As of this morning, some customers in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions remain without power. Furthermore, the city of Slavutych in the Kyiv region is completely without power.

Power companies have begun emergency recovery operations at all locations where the security situation allows. Equipment damaged by Russia’s preliminary attacks in other regions of the country is also being repaired.

As a reminder, on the night of January 5, Russia launched airstrikes on Kyiv, resulting in one death and several injuries. The attack also caused significant destruction in the Kyiv region, particularly in the Fastiv district.
