After a nighttime missile strike on Kyiv that killed at least 12 people, including children, the Kremlin not only did not admit guilt but also called the attack a “successful operation.”
This was stated by Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov in a comment to Russian propaganda media.
Despite the numerous deaths among the civilian population, the Kremlin representative justifies the attack and at the same time declares that Moscow supposedly “does not lose interest in peace negotiations.” In the Russian lexicon, this war is once again called the “Ukrainian crisis,” and the massive attack on the Ukrainian capital is “part of an operation.”
Peskov also recalled Ukraine’s attacks on Russian infrastructure, without mentioning either the reasons or the scale of Russian aggression, which has been going on for over two years.
Such statements by the Kremlin once again demonstrate the double standards of Russian diplomacy: on the one hand, talk of “peace,” and on the other, recognition of missile attacks on peaceful cities as a successful tactic.
As a reminder, on the night of August 28 , Kyiv was subjected to one of the largest attacks in recent months . Russian troops simultaneously used strike drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as hypersonic “Daggers”, which led to large-scale destruction in several areas of the city. In the morning, it became known about four deaths, including two children, and more than two dozen people were injured.
As reported later, the death toll in Kyiv as a result of a combined attack by Russian troops on the night of August 28 increased to 17 people.
