Recently, the Russian army has changed its approach to air strikes in Ukraine, concentrating its attacks on cities.
Thiswas reported on CNN.
As the publication notes, Russia has stepped up its air strikes in recent weeks, launching nearly 500 drones in a single night. However, the strikes have become not only larger and more frequent, but also more concentrated.
The increase in the number of UAVs launched by the Russian Federation overloads Ukrainian air defenses, especially when strikes are concentrated on several locations at once.
In addition, the enemy is trying to attack at high altitudes to make the drones much more difficult to control.
According to Yuri Chumak, a member of the volunteer drone-shooting squad, Russian UAVs are currently flying at an altitude of two to five kilometers above the ground.
“We can see them all. Radars can track them. But it has become impossible to shoot them down with machine guns,” he explained.
Now Ukraine has to use missiles to shoot down drones. However, their number is small, which forces the military to look for new solutions.
As a reminder, on the night of June 15 , Russian troops carried out a massive attack on the territory of Ukraine , launching 183 drones of various types and 11 missiles.
By the way, recently there has been a trend of increasing the number of drones that the Russians launch as part of a single attack on Ukraine.
