Ukrainian intelligence has released the technical specifications of a new drone that Russia is using to detect Ukrainian air defense positions and attempt to overwhelm them. The drone not only performs reconnaissance functions, but can also carry a combat load.
This was reported by the press service of the GUR.
The drone has a delta-wing fuselage, similar in shape to the Iranian Shahed-136, but more compact in size. It is capable of carrying a warhead weighing up to 15 kg. A feature of the device is the predominantly Chinese origin of all its components.
“About half of the drone’s key elements — the flight controller, navigation modules, antennas, airspeed sensor, and Pitot tube — are manufactured by the Chinese company CUAV Technology,” the report says.
Despite the fact that in October 2022, CUAV officially announced the cessation of supplies of its products to Russia and Ukraine in order to avoid its military use, in 2023 the Russian Federation introduced a new vertical take-off UAV, which actually turned out to be their product.
In addition to the CUAV, the drone design also includes:
DLE engines and ignition modules,
KST servo drives,
Razer FPV camera (Foxeer Technology),
Mayatech RFD900X and ReadyToSky data transmitters,
Hobbywing power regulator,
battery from HRB Power.
Some of these components have previously been used in well-known Russian drones — including the Gerber, Parody, Shahed-136, and other guided munitions.
It is also noted that the drone is equipped with a Chinese version of the Australian RFD900X module, a device designed for long-distance data transmission (up to 40 km in line of sight).
This type of communication allows not only to maintain communication between the drone and the ground station, but also to organize communication between several UAVs, which significantly expands the enemy’s capabilities in the field of reconnaissance and navigation.
As a reminder, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has published the technical characteristics of the new cruise missile of the Russian Federation – S8000 “Banderol”.
As reported, China is assisting Russia in the production of military drones, supplying critical Western components for the Russian armed forces.
By the way, the North Korean ballistic missile with which the Russians attacked Kyiv on April 24 contained at least 116 components, most of which were manufactured by American companies.
