Russia destroyed about 90% of warehouses of Ukrainian retail chains: will there be a shortage of products?

Russia has destroyed about 90% of the logistics warehouses of retail chains that were used to supply food to Ukraine. At the same time, a systemic shortage of basic products is not expected, although the assortment and logistics may change.

“Today, 90% of food logistics by retail chains has been destroyed, relatively speaking, but at the same time, this does not mean that Ukrainians will be left without food. There will be variable logistics, as they say, on wheels, other options for operational supply. That is, there will be no threat of famine and systemic physical shortage of food,” said Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky.

According to him, due to attacks on logistics centers, retail chains are forced to use alternative supply schemes. In particular, products can be delivered directly from manufacturers to stores, which is a more expensive, more complicated and time-consuming method.

Vysotsky noted that due to damage to the logistics infrastructure, the range of goods may be reduced.

“The assortment – yes, it may suffer somewhat, we warned about this earlier. But there are no threats to the physical availability, at least of basic products in the stores closest to the consumer,” the minister emphasized.

Recall that on the morning of August 27, Russian occupation forces attacked the Roshen logistics facility in the village of Chubynske, Boryspil district, Kyiv region, with seven drones . As a result of the strike, a warehouse of finished confectionery products was destroyed.

By the way, as a result of the massive night attack by Russia on Kyiv and the region, at least 13 people were killed and another 40 were injured. In Boryspil, Kyiv region, the Russian attack fell on food warehouses and Red Cross facilities . Fires are still burning in the area, which are being extinguished by rescuers.
