Russia is considering the possibility of creating a so-called “buffer zone” not only in the north and east of Ukraine, but also in the Vinnytsia region – on the side of unrecognized Transnistria.
This was stated by Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palis in an interview with RBC.
According to him, this item has appeared in the Russian Federation’s plans for the first time. At the same time, there is no reason for panic at the moment.
“They even have a clause on creating a buffer zone in Vinnytsia region from the Transnistrian side. This is the first time such intentions have been recorded. Frankly, there’s no need to panic, because right now I don’t see them having the strength to implement this,” Palisa noted.
He added that Russian plans are constantly changing, particularly regarding the timing of their implementation. The enemy will likely focus its main efforts on Donbas this year.
“Under favorable conditions, they will also try to increase activity in the south – in the Zaporizhia direction,” the official explained.
In addition, the Russian Federation’s plans include the creation of “buffer zones” in the border regions – Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv, as well as attempts to advance into southern Ukraine.
As a reminder, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that Russian troops are continuing offensive operations and seeking to create a “buffer zone” in the Dnipropetrovsk region . At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine are conducting active defense and inflicting losses on the enemy.
As reported, Russian occupation forces are trying to create a 20-kilometer “buffer zone” along the border in Sumy and Kharkiv regions, capturing border villages.
