Russian occupation authorities have restricted the passage of electric vehicles across the Crimean Bridge, fearing that their battery packs may contain explosives.

This was stated on air by the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmitry Pletenchuk, on Espresso .

According to him, for the Kremlin, the Crimean Bridge is currently more symbolic than of practical significance.

“I call the Crimean Bridge an imperial umbilical cord, with which they’re trying to connect our Crimea to the body of a dying Muscovy. Of course, today the Crimean Bridge has more symbolism than practical significance for Russians. Yes, they can drive across it into Crimea, but electric cars are no longer allowed,” Pletenchuk said.

The speaker emphasized that Russia’s decision was motivated by fears of possible sabotage. He explained that electric car batteries are large and heavy, making it difficult to detect explosives hidden inside.

“The main reason for this decision is fear. They’re afraid that large quantities of explosives could be hidden in electric vehicle batteries. The batteries themselves are heavy and large, making it difficult to find explosives inside. These are their security measures,” he noted.

Pletenchuk also added that, according to available information, Russians are restricting the movement of more than just electric vehicles:
Trucks are suspect, and the occupiers allegedly do not allow trains carrying fuel or heavy weapons to cross the bridge at all.

At the same time, he emphasized that the Crimean Bridge is a complex hydraulic structure with a high degree of strength, making it very difficult to damage without significant structural damage. Therefore, he argued, there’s no point in wasting scarce precision-guided munitions on such strikes when they could be used more effectively against Russian military targets.

“And using scarce ammunition that could be used much more effectively is illogical,” concluded a representative of the Ukrainian Navy.

As a reminder, we previously reported that the infidels are sinking metal barriers in the sea, shaped like so-called “hedgehogs,” to restrict traffic and protect themselves from attacks by Ukrainian naval drones.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine struck the Crimean Bridge for the third time . The explosion occurred underwater. After this unique special operation, the illegal structure was left in a state of disrepair.
