Russia planned to capture Mariupol long before the full-scale invasion in 2022. This is evidenced by the city’s development plans on the website of the Unified Institute for Spatial Planning.
This was stated by the head of the Center for the Study of the Occupation, Petro Andryuschenko.
Evidence of the Russian Federation’s plans to capture Mariupol long before February 24, 2022, is contained on the website of the Unified Institute for Spatial Planning, which designs construction works in the occupied territories of Ukraine. Thus, in 2019, Mariupol modernization projects were published there.
“The Russians not only planned, but also openly published construction and design documentation for the reconstruction of Ukrainian Mariupol,” Andrushchenko emphasized.
He also noted that this is the first public evidence of Russia’s preparations for the complete destruction of Mariupol even before a full-scale invasion in 2022.
It was previously reported that Mariupol may be left without drinking water due to the critical shallowing of its only reservoir .
By the way, Russia plans to resettle at least 5 million Russians in temporarily occupied territories by 2030 .
