The Russian army has begun destroying energy regions in Ukraine, using scorched earth tactics.
This was stated by the head of Ukrenergo, Vitaliy Zaychenko, during a telethon.
He explained that previously the enemy had simultaneously fired hundreds of missiles at Ukrenergo stations and power plants.
However, having failed to destroy the Ukrainian power system, the Russians have switched to a new tactic. They are now targeting energy districts, including substations and power plants of distribution system operators.
Zaichenko stressed that thermal power plants, which are supposed to provide the population with light and heat in the winter, have been significantly damaged. However, he is convinced that a scenario where there will be no light is unlikely.
According to the head of Ukrenergo, more than 50% of transformers have a sufficient level of protection to withstand a “shaheed” strike.
“From this point of view, there is confidence that we will ensure the transmission of electricity in the distribution system operators’ network,” he added.
Recall that the Russian occupiers struck the energy infrastructure of a number of regions, as a result of which power restriction schedules were introduced in all regions of Ukraine .
As is known, on the night of October 17 , Russian troops carried out a massive attack with kamikaze drones on Kryvyi Rih , targeting energy infrastructure facilities.
