Russia has temporarily suspended shipping through the Don-Azov Shipping Canal, which connects the Don River with the Sea of Azov.
Reuters reports that the decision was made following Ukraine’s strikes on 13 Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov on Friday, July 10. Among them were 10 tankers.
Russian border guards also informed shipping companies that all requests for passage through the Kerch Strait, which connects the Azov and Black Seas, will not be accepted starting at 6:10 p.m. local time on July 10, Reuters reports.
Market analysts note that a quarter of wheat exports from Russia, the world’s largest grain exporter, pass through the Sea of Azov.
According to unofficial reports, Rostov and Taganrog in Russia have stopped accepting wheat. Trucks are piling up at the entrances to these cities’ ports.
As reported by Pryamoy, on July 10, the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Force (UUF) announced the destruction of 14 Russian tankers transporting fuel to temporarily occupied Crimea.
