Russia has modernized the Boomerang FPV drone: what are its dangers?

Ukrainian radio technology specialist and advisor to the head of state Serhiy Beskrestnov (“Flash”) has published photos of an updated serial version of the Russian FPV drone “Boomerang”. According to him, the drone has received a number of technical improvements, including a new guidance system and the ability to operate at frequencies above 6 GHz.

According to Beskrestnov, the updated “Boomerang” is equipped with a target guidance system, diversity reception, the ability to quickly change frequencies on antennas, as well as video signal transmission at frequencies above 6 GHz.

Russian troops use various modifications of this drone on the front lines. According to the War&Sanctions portal, the basic version of the FPV kamikaze drone weighs 3.1 kilograms, is capable of speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour, and has a claimed flight range of about 5 kilometers at an altitude of up to 1 kilometer.

The use of the “Boomerang-E” modification was also recorded on the front line. Its take-off weight is 5.8 kilograms, the range reaches 10 kilometers, and control is carried out at frequencies of 868–950 megahertz with video transmission in the range of 5333–5945 megahertz.

It was previously reported that Shahed-type kamikaze drones, equipped with an online control system, pose an increased threat to a number of regions of Ukraine . They are capable of striking not only stationary but also moving targets within a designated area.
