Russia has recruited up to 15,000 Cubans – GUR

Russia has recruited up to 15,000 Cuban citizens into its army, but their role on the front remains limited.

This was reported by Radio Liberty with reference to Andriy Chernyak, representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to him, Ukrainian intelligence has already identified over a thousand names of Cubans who signed contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry. But the real number is probably much higher.

Chernyak explains: many of these people did not go to war consciously. Some were simply misled or forced to sign documents.

The GUR says that these mercenaries are not a force that can change the situation on the front. For the Kremlin, it is rather about something else.

Russia uses such foreigners to create an image of support from abroad. This is presented domestically as evidence that its actions are supposedly supported by other states.

Earlier, Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakawa reported that 1,780 Africans from 36 countries were involved in the war against Ukraine by Russia.

Recall that the Kenyan parliament stated that Russia recruited more than a thousand of its citizens to participate in the war against Ukraine . Earlier, it was reported that mercenaries from Africa who fought on the side of Russia against Ukraine received Russian passports.
