Russia has significantly increased the number of Shahed-class jets used in attacks on Ukraine. While approximately 1,500 such drones were detected in July, their number exceeded 2,500 in August.

This was reported by the Ukrainian President’s advisor on the development of technological areas of defense, Sergei Beskrestnov, known by the call sign “Flash.”

“Last month, Ukraine was attacked by approximately 1,500 Shahid jets; this month, there have already been more than 2,500,” Beskrestnov wrote.

According to him, Russian jet-powered drones are used almost immediately after production.

“Shahed rockets are launched into Ukraine practically straight from the factory,” Beskrestnov noted.

Thus, in one month, the number of jet drones used by Russia increased by at least a thousand – approximately 67%.

Beskrestnov also previously stated that the Shahed jets pose an additional challenge to Ukrainian air defense due to their higher speed and the use of modern control channels.
