Russian industry is producing about 3,000 Geran-4/5 jet drones per month in August, exceeding Geran-2 production. Russia is reconfiguring some of its production capacity for new jet drones, despite problems with engine supply.

This is reported by “Military” .

According to the publication’s sources in the GUR, in August the Russian Federation produces about 3,000 “Geran-4/5” and about 2,800 “Geran-2” shock missiles every month.

The increase in jet drone production followed the reconfiguration of some Russian production facilities. At the same time, in July, Russia slightly reduced the total production of drones due to the reorientation of enterprises to the turbojet Geran-4 and Geran-5.

Russia has also significantly increased its use of Shahed drones . According to Yuri Ignat, head of the Air Force’s communications department, in July the occupiers used five times more of these drones than in June. During some attacks, their share reached 2/3 of the total number of drones launched.

At the same time, Deputy Head of the GUR Vadym Skibitsky noted that Russia has problems with turbojet engines for new drones.

“If we talk about Geran-4 and Geran-5, they have a problem with turbojet engines – they are trying to produce their own. Currently, they are completely dependent on the supply of such engines from China, and they are expensive – each costs about 35-40 thousand dollars,” Skibitsky said.

“Geran-4” has a cruising speed of up to 500 km/h and a range of up to 850 km. The mass of its warhead is from 50 kg.

The Geran-5 has a different design, is equipped with a Chinese jet engine and can carry a 90 kg warhead. The declared range of this drone is about 1,000 km.

By the way, Russia continues to increase the production of missile weapons and strike drones and is preparing to maintain the intensity of attacks on Ukraine . According to the deputy head of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Vadim Skibitsky, the Russian Federation may reduce the number of missiles it uses per target, but a pause in the shelling is unlikely.

Recall that Russia continues to increase the production of drones and other aviation equipment against the backdrop of the war against Ukraine . In April of this year, the volume of aircraft production more than doubled compared to the same period last year.
