Russia has turned Alabuga into one of the country’s most protected sites
Russia continues to strengthen air defenses around the Alabuga special economic zone in Tatarstan, where Shahed attack drones are manufactured. There are now 33 air defense positions around the facility.
This was reported by Radio Liberty, citing satellite images from October 21.
According to journalists, since the spring of 2026, the Russians have significantly expanded the enterprise’s defense system. In particular, new concrete towers for air defense systems and special platforms have appeared around Alabuga, on which Pantsir or Tor anti-aircraft systems can be placed.
In addition, towers for large-caliber anti-aircraft machine guns were installed directly on the territory of the economic zone. Structures for tensioning anti-drone nets were also installed above the production buildings.
Thus, “Alabuga” became one of the most protected facilities in Russia from drone attacks.
In terms of the number of defensive positions, it can be compared to the residence of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Valdai. Journalists there counted 31 air defense towers and two positions of S-300/S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems.
At the same time, in Moscow and the Moscow region, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has equipped over 100 new positions for air defense systems.
Recall that Russia has deployed new bases for launching strike drones , and drones for them are supplied, in particular, from the Alabuga production cluster in Tatarstan.
It was previously reported that the main production of Russian strike UAVs is concentrated in Alabuz , where the Russian Federation produces Geran drones.
