In a massive attack, the Russian army used Zircon missiles against the 750 kV Kyivska substation, which connects the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant to the capital and provides a significant portion of Kyiv’s electricity supply.

Energy expert and Chairman of the Ukrainian Renewable Energy Association, Stanislav Ignatiev, stated this on the Kyiv24 television channel.

According to him, the strikes resulted in significant destruction and damage to energy facilities within the capital. The expert emphasized that the best-case scenario for Kyiv calls for a challenging situation for at least the next two weeks.

Ignatiev noted that the attack was specifically aimed at the 750 kV Kyivska substation, which effectively supplies approximately 80 percent of the city’s electricity. It was at this facility that former Ukrenergo CEO Alexey Brekht was killed.

The expert urged Kyiv residents to prepare for possible power outages and transportation disruptions. He advised them to stock up on water and food, and to consider the risk of delays in the subway, which is already operating irregularly. He also warned that Kyiv’s local power grid will be in critical condition for the next two weeks.
